How much does a ticket cost at your usual movie theater? Does the price affect the number of movies you see at the theater?

I have a usual movie theatre?  LOL

I have not actually been to the movies since ... I don't know how long it's been.  We took the boys to see Ice Age 2 when that was out, and I think we went to the drive-in to see Shrek 2 before that.  That's how long since I actually saw a movie at a cinema.  I was supposed to go see Sex and the City with a bunch of girlfriends a few weeks back but the scheduled night didn't work out for me.  So yeah - I'm very much your "wait till it comes out on dvd" kind of gal these days.

That said, I think tickets are around $15 to $16 for an adult these days.  I would gladly pay that amount if I could ever get the chance to actually go to the movies.

this actually is a long time coming since it happened like a year ago. and to be honest, i almost forgot about it but recently, something reminded me of the following comment made to me:

"shy, i am SO glad i don't have a girl. i feel sorry for you... because when they get screwed over by a guy for the first time, it's going to be so hard for them."

*blink, blink*

i think i calmly told this mother of one son that i've known plently of highschool boys that went into deep dispair and even into depression after being dumped by a girl.

but this was what i was thinking...

"FUCK OFF! first of all, if this were some sort of KNOWN, SCIENTIFIC, FACT that teenage girls have worse heartbreaks then teenage boys, then why the hell would you then point out the 'obvious' and say 'i feel sorry for you?' what kind of a statement is that? and then to boast that you don't have to go through with it simply because you have a boy? and please? my little girl will probably be the one breaking YOUR boy's heart, what with the way you raise him, never being home and giving him no sense of security because he's always being dropped off at some one's house for the night so you can go out and party at the age of 35-something?"

i didn't say this though but truth be told, i actually would worry about her boy then chaeli being thrown into the pits of sorrow from the first heartbreak. not that i'm saying my little girl is tough as steel but i have faith that she will pull out of it more smoothly then he ever will.

shit. there's one thing about wanting to compare and compete with other parents but a sexist, lame statement like that is just asking for it.

besides, my girl has already dumped two boys and she's not even five. ;)

THAT would Be My Dream Job! I Just realized that Today. I Love to Sing and I Love to tell stories and I Love to perform! When I tell the boys the classic stories (Cinderella, Little Red Robin Hood) I always end up incorporating a song from Sonheim's Into The Woods. (Yes, I am a dorky parent) They Love It! And I do Too!!!

I think it would be a Blast!

I just found this great website that helps you get organized and the best part . . . its free!!

Its called Cozi.com. It has a place for grocery lists, general lists, a private mini journal (great for quicks notes of the day that can later be used for inspiration when blogging on your own personal blog), a calender with event scheduler and more stuff thats pretty useful. Also, its all online so you access it anywhere, and you can even have some of the content texted to yourself or another family member in a flash.

I know i sound like a commercial but I really like this thing lol.

What's your favorite time of day and why?

I have 2 different times i love . . .

The kids are always keeping me busy. There's always some kind of commotion going on, good or bad. But usually, in the morning, about 9:30 am the kids have had breakfast and settled into some artsy or crafty activity. Its so great to see them focusing on something so intently. I usually join them, but sometimes I just watch. Its one, if not the only completely peaceful part of the day I spend with the kids.

and then there's 9:30 pm . . . yes about 12 hrs later . . . when the kids are all tucked in bed.

I love this time. I've cleaned up the dinner mess and now I can take the time to just chill. Sometimes my husband takes a break from his freelance endeavors and joins me. We talk, have a drink, or maybe something caffeinated (to prep for a late night working) and sometimes we indulge with the latest Netflix (if things freelance-wise are slow.)

For a busy mom and dad these moments are like tiny little vacations in an otherwise hectic life.

Yes, it's that time of year again.  Last night was the annual School Disco.  The 5-year-old had been asking me about it for a good 3 or 4 months - how many sleeps, etc, and then finally the announcement came a couple of weeks ago that it was to be on this week.

He'd already decided well in advance which outfit he'd be wearing, which glow product he would be purchasing (there's always a stall at the door for the kids to buy something) and on Monday night announced that he wanted to wear his hair all slicked back so he looked "really cool".

Which we did, and here he is, looking a little like a young Draco Malfoy:

The 8-year-old was less excited, this being his 4th school disco.  He ran away when I tried to take a picture and condescended only to be photographed thusly:

The evening included a complimentary packet of chips and drink of cordial.  My sympathies were with the supervising teachers, especially those who were there for the long haul (the kindergarten - year 2 kids went from 4.30 - 6 and the year 3 - 6 kids from 6.30 - 8pm).  The DJ was completely over the top and by the end of both sessions had whipped all the kids into an absolute frenzy.

Suffice to say, though, that both boys had a great night.

We have an old dog called Mollie.  For many years, walking Mollie (and previously, her good friend and companion, Max) provided our main impetus for getting out and exploring the neighbourhood and getting some exercise into the bargain.  Now Mollie is coming up for her 15th birthday and finding it hard walking much further than the end of the street and back due to arthritis in her back legs.  What this has meant is that we have had to drive to the local park if we want Mollie to come along or else we have to leave her behind.  We have my son's old Maclaren stroller at home and it occurred to me last night that maybe we could use this to take Mollie down to the park by foot.  Would mean we would still be getting the exercise and Mollie could get out and walk around once we were there.  I'm sure my husband will think this is totally insane!

This is Mollie after one of her visits to the vet for her arthritis shots.  Unfortunately they don't seem to be helping as much as they used to and she is still staggering around like an old lady especially on cold mornings.
